Today I woke up to one of the most beautiful day I've seen since I've arrived in Europe. The sun finally pushed its way through the clouds covering Frankfurt. Our bus departs for Luxembourg at 3:45pm tonight so we have plenty of time to run around the city one last time. I am looking forward to visiting the Frankfurt history museum as well as experiencing this beautiful city in the sunlight.

We just sat down for brunch at an outdoor café called Mainkai which overlooks the dazzling Main river. I ordered two soft boiled eggs for dipping toast. It feels so nice to sit back and watch people pass by our cafe tables. The large crowd causes me to reflect upon the fact that each of these people have their own lives and only for this brief moment do their lives brush past mine. I had some fun guessing with my friends what each passing persons life may be like. It's weird to think that I will never know their true story.

Following lunch, we made our way to St. Bartholomew's Cathedral where a church service was in progress. Packed with many people, as it is a Sunday, it was a special experience to see a glipse of a service in such a spiritual location. Following this, we continued to explore the city with no agenda. Our only goal in mind was to simply appreciate our final hours in the sun.

Eventually time drew short and we began to work our way towards the central station. We first stopped back at the hostel, retrieved our bags from the baggage room, stopped by the grocer to retrieve a meal for the road, and eventually found our bus stop with ease. However, there was one slight hiccup, our 11th friend traveling with us was no where to be found. With 7 minutes until the bus was scheduled to leave, Cole was in a race against time. As the minutes trickled by, the 10 of us who made the bus began to brainstorm ways to delay the buses departure. We tried to make an excuse for the bus driver to reopen the luggage compartment under the bus, but we had little success. The bus driver explained that the bus was on a very strict schedule. Which was extremely understandable considering it is likely others on the bus have appointments or flights upon their arrival at the final destination. This all being said, Cole was only 2 minutes away from the stop when the bus departed. Not to worry, he caught the next bus 4 hours later, and eventually made it home to Luxembourg safely. But this experience but into perspective, for those of us who did make the bus, the importance to always be slightly ahead of schedule when traveling. We missed him on the ride back, but not too much, lol. As you can see from the photo to the right, nothing stops us from missing a moment of shut eye.

Until next time. xo
